Sports Therapy
How it works
As a Sports Therapist it's my job to get you back to doing what you love.
All new patients need to come for an initial assessment, where I will talk through your medical history and assess the site of your pain or injury. I might also look at how you are moving.
Depending on the findings of the assessment, I will usually give you some home care advice, or recommend you book in for a hands-on treatment, or exercise rehabilitation session.
In some cases I might refer you to another healthcare practitioner if I think they can better meet your needs.
How I treat
My treatment plans usually include an element of hands-on treatment such as myofascial release, sports massage, assisted stretching, and gentle joint mobilisations. These can relieve pain and stiffness, improve mobility, and help prevent injury.
I also encourage my clients to do some form of exercise rehabilitation. Evidence shows that this is the only way to create long-term change in the body. Loading tissues with the right amount of force at the right time will help rebuild damaged or weakened tissue, and re-programme how we use our muscles.
