My story
Before I became a Sports Therapist I completed a PhD in the neuroscience of appetite and obesity (yup, this is Dr Jones reporting for duty!).
I then worked as a Medical Writer for almost 15 years, and during this time I decided to pursue my love of exercise, and qualified as a personal trainer and exercise to music instructor.
After gaining experience working with clients, it was time to take my next big career step, and I completed my Masters degree in Sports Therapy.
This was the final piece of the puzzle for me, allowing me to combine my love of sport and exercise science with my passion for working with people and helping clients stay fit and healthy.
My qualifications
My academic and professional qualifications include:
-MSc Sports Therapy
-Level 3 Sports Massage
-Level 3 Personal Training
-Level 2 Exercise, Movement & Dance
-PhD Neuroscience of Appetite & Obesity
-BSc Psychology
I am also a great lover of ballet and have completed several of Lisa Howell's teacher training intensives and am a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor.
In addition to working with many dance students over the years, I am still dancing myself, and in 2024 received a merit in my Royal Academy of Dance Advanced Foundation ballet exam.

My approach
Every therapist treats differently, and it's important you choose someone that suits you.
My approach is built on my core beliefs that:
-
Treatment should be evidence-based whenever possible
-
Quality of movement is more important than quantity - technique matters
-
The best results come from treating the body as a whole - sometimes working above or below the site of injury can be more effective than targeting the painful area
-
Our nervous systems, stress levels, and frame of mind all affect injury and recovery rates and need to be accounted for by your therapist
-
Patient education and independence are key to recovery - I am here to guide you on how to take the best possible care of yourself
